Racing Alpha v1.0 Review: 19pt Profit as Two Big-Priced Winners Strike
A profitable start for the v1.0 card
Racing Alpha's freshly-minted v1.0 AI card went to work across 44 races at six meetings on Friday, and while two of the eight settled selections found the target, the combination of prices meant a healthy profit of +19.00 points.
Given this is a model that publishes a full card for every race it rates — not a single tip — we're transparent about the six losers that accompanied the two winners. Here's how it played out.
The headline result: Marian Avenue (14.50) and Reenie's Dream (12.50)
The day's standout performance came at Newmarket, where Marian Avenue (advised 14.50) powered home to land at a double-figure price, returning +13.50 points to the advised stake. That one result alone would have turned the day green.
There was further cheer at Listowel, where Reenie's Dream (advised 12.50) also obliged, adding +11.50 points to the kitty. Two winners at odds of 12/1 and 14/1 speaks to the model's willingness to look beyond the market leaders.
The six that didn't fire
Of course, a full-card approach means accepting the rough with the smooth. Brash (4.10) travelled well enough at Haydock but couldn't get home. Travis (11.00) never looked happy on the Newcastle tapeta. Strong Contender (9.00) found one too good at Worcester. Arenite (7.00) was disappointing at Listowel. Hey Havana (10.50) and Pureis King (9.20) both failed to land a blow at Dundalk and Newcastle respectively.
All six lost a solitary point each — the price of doing business when you're covering the whole card rather than cherry-picking.
What it tells us
Early days for v1.0, but the message is clear: when this model connects, it tends to connect at prices that make the losses worthwhile. A 25% strike-rate is nothing to write home about, but when the average winning price sits north of 13/1, the P&L takes care of itself.
You can track every selection and result in real time over at the Racing Alpha performance ledger.
Looking ahead to today
The model is already crunching the numbers for Saturday's action, which features competitive cards across the UK and Ireland. As always, we'll publish the full v1.0 card — every race the AI rates, with prices and analysis — over at Racing Alpha's today page.
Friday's profit suggests the approach has legs. Saturday will be the next test.
