Mick's Spirit
Cracking 8yo who has won two Polytrack races in every season for the last five years; however, he finished behind Spendmore Lane and Ancient State at Lingfield recently and the return to Tapeta looks a negative.

From the connections
“Conrad [Allen] has done such a great job with Mick's Spirit. I genuinely think if anyone else had him, he wouldn't be winning the races that he does. When things go his way and he gets out in front like that, he's hard to beat. He travels so sweetly at a fast pace and when you get him travelling he really carries you and burns everyone off - Darragh Keenan, jockey.”
“I wasn't confident of beating Gogo Yubari in the form she was in, but I knew Mick's Spirit was in good order and I'm very happy with him. He's always good at this track. I think they went a bit quick on Saturday, but he got an uncontested lead this time. If Darragh gets the fractions right he's pretty useful, especially at this grade. He's had his soundness issues but he seems to be in a good place. There's a race for him at the end of the month and I hope he's able to back this up - Conrad Allen, trainer.”
“We did some gate work with Mick's Spirit, as he kept missing the break and when he's in front, or at least sitting second, he's more enthusiastic than when he's crowded behind. As soon as he broke well from the gate, I thought it would take a lot to beat him. We were running with a tongue-tie for the first time today. I noticed in the mornings he flips his tongue over, so I thought I would try it and it worked. Hopefully, the handicapper won't flatten him. We were pleasantly surprised. When he won here in January he was 25-1. They can keep laying him at big prices if they want - Conrad Allen, trainer.”
“We backed Mick's Spirit at 28s. I couldn't believe he kept drifting so it's wonderful. I haven't had him in such good form since the last time he won - Conrad Allen, trainer, speaking to Sky Sports Racing.”
“Mick's Spirit was very fizzy early on but he's learnt to settle. We took the hood off today, dropped him back to five furlongs and he won quite nicely. We're really happy with him and he should have a future in handicaps - Conrad Allen, trainer.”
