Racing Post Spotlight

Gained third chase win off 5lb lower at Down Royal in November; some decent runs in defeat since including when a 12.5l fourth of 13 at Leopardstown on latest (28.5f, yld-sft); this trip more suitable; place shout but may need more help from the handicapper to get his head back in front.

I love riding Battle Of Mirbat. He is brilliant to jump. He really enjoyed getting out in front there today. He was having a look down to the last, so I was hoping he would keep it up. I was delighted to get the win for Michael and it was a great training performance to get him back on song. He had a couple of seasons where he struggled a bit, but he is back in form now. His jumping is super and he came back down the handicap a bit there. He always runs with plenty of credit and hopefully he will go on from this and get a bit of confidence again - Sean O'Keefe, jockey.

BATTLE OF MIRBAT is a gutsy horse. It suited going left-handed again, he hasn't done that since Leopardstown. When the horse came around his outside on the home bend, I was happy to take my time. In my opinion, he prefers going this way around. If he's keen and you get into a fight with him then he will want to go left and today he got into a great rhythm, I didn't have to move on him everywhere - Mark McDonagh, jockey.
