Racing Post Spotlight

In the form of his life last year, winning 1m4f Roscommon Listed on seasonal debut and better again upped to 2m at this venue, unlucky narrow defeat in Irish Cesarewitch and ready winner of Group 3 Loughbrown Stakes in November on heavy; ideally wants it softer and this looks a tough enough task on seasonal return but has to be respected.

He's a pleasure to train, Chally Chute is improving steadily and we are having great fun with him. A couple of opportunities we had to pass because we felt the ground was too quick for him so I was keen to run him this week. The whole idea was to see how he stays and plan the rest of the season for him, the Irish Cesarewitch was in the back of my head for a long time. He won at Galway last autumn so the plan will be to go back, we might give him an entry in the 2m early in the week and then the 1m4f on the Friday - Michael Halford, trainer, talking to Racing TV.

Chally Chute is getting better with racing. He had a setback as a three-year-old and we just had to wait for him - he's improving all the time. He handled Dundalk well when he won up there, but I wasn't too worried about this ground with him being by Fast Company. It was a nice race and a nice track for him. Jamie was very cool on him. The plan wasn't to be that far back on him but he rode him for luck and it happened for them - Mick Halford, trainer.
