Today's angles
Six factual screens over today's declared runners — the shortlists punters build by hand every morning, computed for you.
Screens, not tips. Each list answers one checkable question; none carries an ROI claim. An angle is where research starts, not where it ends — every section says what it can't tell you.
Hot trainers · 38 qualifiers
Runners today from trainers striking at 25%+ over the last 14 days (minimum 8 runs).
Recent strike rate is partly luck and partly intent — small windows swing hard. Check whether the yard's winners came in similar races.
Course winners · 11 qualifiers
Horses that have already won at today's track, from our results archive.

Course form matters most at quirky tracks (Chester, Epsom, Brighton). A win here two seasons ago in weaker company proves less than the bare count suggests.
Last-time-out winners · 62 qualifiers
Runners whose most recent completed start was a win.
Winners usually carry a penalty or a higher mark today — the handicapper's job is to stop the repeat. Form ≠ value.
First-time headgear · 46 qualifiers
Runners wearing blinkers, visor, cheekpieces, hood or tongue tie for the first time.
Gear changes signal a yard trying something — sometimes a fix, sometimes a last resort. Blinkers/visor first time are the classic sharpeners.
Fresh from a wind op · 4 qualifiers
First run since reported wind surgery.
| Time | Course | Horse | Trainer | Angle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13:35 | Chester | Ran Amok | Hugo Palmer | First run since wind surgery |
| 15:00 | York | Gregory | John & Thady Gosden | First run since wind surgery |
| 15:00 | York | Roaring Legend | Olly Murphy | First run since wind surgery |
| 17:12 | Chester | Idyllic | Wilf Storey | First run since wind surgery |
Wind ops only help horses whose breathing was the problem. The market usually knows — don't expect secret value, expect explained improvement.
Quick turnarounds · 29 qualifiers
Runners returning within 7 days of their last start.
A fast return can mean a horse is thriving or a yard chasing a closing window. Check whether the last run was a win or a flop.
How these screens work
Computed from today's declared runners and our own results archive. Course-winner counts come from races we have settled results for, so a veteran's early-career wins may predate our archive window. Trainer 14-day form comes from the Racing API. Lists refresh roughly every 10 minutes; non-runners may persist briefly between syncs.
