Racing Alpha v1.0: A Tough Tuesday as Darkened Edge Shines Alone
A Day of Near-Misses for Racing Alpha’s AI Card
Tuesday’s racing was a reminder that even the most data-driven models have off days. Across 38 races at Killarney, Uttoxeter, Catterick, Lingfield, Yarmouth and Bath, the v1.0 card produced just one winner from its eight settled selections, resulting in a net loss of 4.95 points. It wasn’t a disaster, but it was certainly a reality check.
The Lone Bright Spot: Darkened Edge
The headline act was Darkened Edge, who justified a 3.05 advised price – a tidy return for those who followed. The performance was solid, and the algorithm’s confidence was well placed. But the rest of the card struggled to convert. Saucy Jane (3.95), Bellatina (5.00), Man Is King (8.80), Blue Hero (4.00), Jessie Jump Jet (6.50), Karthala (7.80) and Camshaft (5.30) all failed to land.
Some of those defeats were close, others less so. The 8.80 about Man Is King looked generous on paper but didn’t pan out. Karthala at 7.80 was another that promised more than it delivered. The model’s six other selections from the 30-race wider card (not settled) would have been a mixed bag, but we only report on the settled portfolio.
Transparency is the Brand
At Racing Alpha, we publish the full card – every race the model rates – not just a single tip. That means days like Tuesday are part of the story. The loss is part of the picture, but so is the long-term track record. Anyone can check the public ledger at racingalpha.co.uk/performance to see the full history, win rates, and P&L. No cherry-picking, no hiding the bad days.
Eyes Forward: Wednesday’s Card
Today’s racing offers a fresh slate. The model has been recalibrated for the 38-race card on Wednesday, with courses including a mix of jumps and flat. The v1.0 algorithm learns from every result, so yesterday’s data will feed into today’s ratings. As always, we’ll publish the full card – every race rated – so subscribers can see the reasoning behind each selection.
Head over to racingalpha.co.uk/today to see the AI’s picks for Wednesday. One winner from eight yesterday? That’s the nature of the game. The model will keep doing its work, and we’ll keep reporting it straight.
