Tough start for Racing Alpha v1.0: two losers from two on opening day

A blunt opening for v1.0

Yesterday marked the public launch of Racing Alpha's v1.0 AI card, and honesty is the only policy: it was a blank. Of the two settled plays, both lost, leaving a -2.00pt deficit for the day.

The two losers

  • Si White (3.55 advised, Kilbeggan) — failed to deliver on a promising run of form. Jumped adequately but lacked a finishing kick, beaten before the straight. -1.00pt.
  • Sunlit Sea (3.25 advised, Haydock) — well backed but never travelled with menace on ground faster than ideal. Weakened two out. -1.00pt.

It's one day. The model is not a guarantee — no AI is. We publish every race it rates, not just a cherry-picked tip, and that transparency means days like this go on record. The full public ledger is here.

The wider picture

54 races were run across eight courses — Ascot, Kilbeggan, Ayr, Lingfield (AW), Newmarket (July) and Haydock. Winners were scattered wide, with few short-priced favourites obliging. The AI's selections were both mid-range prices (3.55 and 3.25), reflecting its preference for value rather than simply tipping odds-on shots. That philosophy will lead to occasional blank days.

Looking to today

Friday's cards feature the Shergar Cup at Ascot, a competitive handicap at Newmarket, and jumps fare from Kilbeggan and Ayr. The v1.0 model has already scanned the declarations and will publish its selections shortly.

Today's full card is live here. We'll be back tomorrow to review how it performed — win, lose, or draw.
