From the connections
“Thecompanysergeant had one run over hurdles, then we gave him a break after that, and we said we would target him here and the plan has nearly come off. When I got him he was a novice over fences, and he is still a novice over fences. I bought him for the novices' handicap chase. I entered him in both races, but I switched him as I thought Caldwell Potter looked a good thing in the novices' handicap chase. I thought the whole way up the straight we needed Jagwar to make a bad mistake at the last. This lad hasn't missed a beat. He jumped really well, apart from making a small mistake at the ditch which pushed him back a bit and he had to come a bit wide, but on the whole he has had a nice ride around - Gavin Cromwell, trainer.”
“Thecompanysergeant is a lovely horse and has done us no wrong. He will be better for upping in trip and hopefully he can go for a novice hurdle before the season is over - Denis Hogan, trainer.”
“Thecompanysergeant is a lovely horse. He missed a year after his point-to-point run and it was the making of him as he's strengthened up into a lovely horse. He was very good at Galway when he wasn't fully ready and finished third. He subsequently won well at Kilbeggan and all his form has worked out. This race broke up nicely and John Gleeson was top class. We'll go hurdling now and he might develop into a nice novice. He'll handle soft ground - Denis Hogan, trainer.”
