True Love
Queen Mary winner; showed top-class form over 6f later in the season; had American Queen behind in fourth when winning the Cheveley Park; beating Magny Cours and Pivotal Attack readily over 7f on reappearance; travelled strongly and stayed on powerfully to win the 1,000 Guineas; had the advantage of race fitness over stablemate Precise who should get closer now.

“True Love is a monster of a filly really. She won the Cheveley Park and then I ran her in the wrong race in America. I ran her in the six [furlong race] when I should have run her in the mile. She's a massive, big, powerful filly. I wouldn't think there's any colts as big and powerful as her, but she has a lot of class, she has a great mind, is a great traveller and she's determined as well. Newmarket is one track in the world where there is nowhere to hide and to get a mile up here you have to really get it, so I'm delighted. Wayne [Lordan] gave her a super ride and only produced her when he had to. Obviously it'll depend on what the lads want to do but I'd imagine you're looking at an Irish Guineas and Coronation - she's a very classy filly. She had a run and that race that she won - it's very unusual - most of our Guineas winners had won that race on the way to here. Any that had a run that was the race they won and they came here. Obviously you couldn't be sure that she was to get a mile. She's a Queen Mary winner which is very unusual for a Queen Mary winner to get a mile. When she was able to win over seven furlongs in Leopardstown on soft ground and got no cover there was always a chance that she could get it - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.True Love is a big, powerful filly as you could see in the ring. She's quite tall but she has the strength to go with it. I was lucky that she won here last year. She ran over seven furlongs the last day and she got to the line quite well and because she showed so much pace there was always a little question mark over whether she would get the mile. Her homework would suggest that she would, so we came here today confident and hopeful. She jumped and she relaxed beautifully and I went through the race very comfortable and when I asked her to go forward, she got to the line well - Wayne Lordan, jockey.”
“True Love is a big, pacey filly. Whether she'll get a mile or not, it's hard to know, but Ryan [Moore] said she went through the race very easily, so he was very happy. She's definitely something to look forward to. Depending on how Precise and Diamond Necklace are, she could go to France if she doesn't go to Newmarket. All the possibilities are open - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.”
“True Love is a big powerhouse and is very quick. I wouldn't be sure she'd stay as mile as she's by No Nay Never and he has a big influence for speed, but you never know. She's big, but definitely not short of speed. She could go to America as she travels very strongly. We never know if you get through the winter and into the spring if they're going to stay, and she's got a great constitution and mind - Aidan O'Brien, trainer. We won't know if True Love stay a mile until next year, but she has plenty of speed. She coasted past the furlong and found plenty for pressure. She finished second last time, but she's matured and grown stronger since then. She keeps on changing, so you just won't know what will happen. We see her every day at home, but when I got up on her, I realised then how big she's getting. She's growing into herself and still improving - Wayne Lordan, jockey, speaking to ITV Racing.”
“Obviously True Love is fast, so we weren't sure she'd get six furlongs. She was a Queen Mary winner, so it was very hard for Ryan not to ride her. Obviously the Phoenix would be there for her as well as the Morny and the Cheveley Park - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.”
“The lads will decide, but you'd imagine True Love will have no problem going six [furlongs], but she is [by] No Nay Never and he's a big influence for speed. Always the Queen Mary winner goes to Deauville [for the Prix Morny] or they go to the Curragh [for the Phoenix Stakes], so they're the two races. There's the fillies' race at the Newmarket [the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes] July festival, but if that'll come too early, I don't know. She had to work hard because she was on her own in that part of the track and the only company she was going to get was in the middle, but Ryan [Moore] slowly let her get out there. She did well really because she was under the pump a long way out but she was strong at the line. She's obviously high class. Walking around the ring she was like a big four-year-old and that's not making light of anything, she's just so scopey and so mature. She's something to look forward to - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.True Love is a tall, scopey girl. She'll be better suited when she goes back to six. She looked a bit different to the rest of them at the start. She's a No Nay Never and they're usually big, strong, powerful fast two-year-olds; she's got all that size but she feels like she'll be better suited when she goes a bit further. She was second first time in a Listed race, beat by a smart filly, and then obviously the colt that beat her won yesterday, so the form was there - Ryan Moore, jockey.”
