Racing Post Spotlight

He's got back on track in a major way in 5f handicaps this spring, winning at Newmarket then impressively making all in a big field at York last week (both on good ground; effective on soft early in career); back up in grade this afternoon but this thriving 5yo could be capable of another bold bid.

I didn't expect Jakajaro to lead this field in such a high-quality race but he's just getting better and he's getting faster. I don't know why. He had talent when he was in Ireland and he contested some pretty snazzy races last year. This year he's been a different horse altogether. Maybe it's just that he's a year older and we know a little bit more about him. He'll have to go up to stakes company now, he's earned it. He's in the Temple Stakes and he could quite easily go for something like that - Robert Cowell, trainer.

It wasn't the plan to make the running with Jakajaro but Jamie walked the track beforehand and the far side was the place to be. It's nice that he's retained all his old abilities - Robert Cowell, trainer.

Jakajaro was a horse I thought would win a maiden. This is a good horse. He was still green today and hopefully he will go on. He's in the big sales race here in September and that will be in his target - David Marnane, trainer
