Night Raider
Not beaten far in two 5f Group 1s last August/September (good to firm/yielding) and he finally got off the mark on turf when making all in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) three weeks ago; that was his first run since being gelded and he could be tough to reel in.

From the connections
“Night Raider is a high-class horse and we always knew he had a huge engine. He won his first two races over seven furlongs on the all-weather and we then tried to turn him into a miler and ran him in the Guineas, but he was just too keen, too free and too fractious. Gelding has really made him and brought him on. He is 10kg lighter than last year and I thought he looked tremendous in the paddock. I thought if he jumped quick and got into a rhythm he'd handle the undulations, which he did. He was a bit fractious in the stalls last year as a full horse, but the gelding has calmed him down a bit. He's been working nicely - he does a lot on his own, as you don't need to work him with other horses. That's a great result for Wathnan Racing and Richard Brown, who has always had huge faith in him. I think it would be Royal Ascot now. He is also in at York, but that might come too quickly for him. I think he'd stay six furlongs - Karl Burke, trainer. We gelded Night Raider because he wasn't doing things 100% right. It was a good decision by the whole team and it's transformed him, he's a much more relaxed character. I know looking at the race and the way he ran you wouldn't think that but that's what he is - a real ball of speed. He tired a bit late on as he was entitled to given we went ferocious fractions but I like the way he pulled out. Last year when one came to him he folded quite tamely whereas there he went again - James Doyle, jockey.”
“When everything goes smoothly for him and Night Raider is relaxed in the prelims and at the start, he's a horse with a lot of natural ability - Karl Burke, trainer.”
“Night Raider was very comfortable going a good gallop. He beat two decent benchmarks in Wiltshire and Annaf - Oisin Murphy, speaking to Sky Sports Racing.”
“The idea was to go straight to the Guineas with a racecourse gallop at the Craven meeting. Another run is probably the right thing to do, Danny [Tudhope, jockey] said Night Raider could do with another run, he's still green in front but he's obviously a very good horse - Karl Burke, trainer.”
