Estrange
Very talented 5yo whose two wins last year included this race (1m4f, good; at Haydock) on reappearance; ran a cracker when second in Group 1 at Ascot (1m4f, good) on final start; that makes her the clear form pick back in this grade and she's the one to beat if ready to roll after 224 days off.

From the connections
“Estrange has run a really good race. I'm very proud of her. She's a lot of class, how she can move up so easily in a race is a great asset. I'm delighted with my filly on ground that I think isn't her optimum. We rolled the dice on ground I had said we would not run on. We made a collective decision and we've run on it and run well. The only two older fillies that have won this in recent years both won Arcs, Enable and Alpinista so she's not done too badly today - David O'Meara, trainer.”
“Danny [Tudhope, jockey] said Estrange normally falls asleep in a race but today she was trying to chase a little bit and didn't quite drop the bit. She ended up being in front for a long time, which isn't really how we'd like to play her. It was a means to an end. She's four from five now and has won a Group 2, so it's brilliant. The drop of rain helped, although I don't think she's absolutely reliant on heavy ground but we wouldn't really want to be running on quick ground. The Yorkshire Oaks would be the next target, it fits in well timewise - David O'Meara, trainer.”
“Danny said Estrange has a great temperament and is a dream to ride. You can put her anywhere and when you want her you just give a small squeeze and she comes to life under you. For me and for the yard it's brilliant to have a filly like this. We'll stay away from quick conditions but the Pretty Polly in Ireland could be considered, there's the Lancashire Oaks back here and the Yorkshire Oaks. Dare I say, if she was good enough it would be great to be considering Longchamp. She hasn't won a Group 1 yet but she potentially is the best we've had, she looks very good - David O'Meara, trainer.”
“Estrange has always had a lot of ability and it didn't really work out at Yarmouth last time as she got behind a wall of horses and it was a little bit quick. We'd been waiting for this race on easier ground over an ideal trip. She's still learning and will be a better filly next year. Hopefully it's Group races next year. She'll get a good winter under her belt and come back next spring. She's only going to get better, that's for sure - Matthew Sigsworth, owners' representative.”
“We were expecting Estrange to run well as her work had been very good, but you couldn't expect her to win in that manner - visually it was so impressive. She had no experience going into it so she's bound to improve. We'll speak to connections, but a lack of experience will be a thing and we'll be mindful of that before chucking her in too deep - David O'Meara, trainer.”
