“South Island has always worked like a very nice horse and we've been disappointed with him once or twice. I don't think he needs that far but I thought he'd be able to dictate against less experienced rivals over that track and trip. He looks like a nice horse going forward. They went slow, and it turned into a bit of a dash. What his trip will be next year I'm not sure but he's a fine, big, strong horse and what Al Riffa has done over a mile and six would make you think he should stay pretty well next year - Donnacha O'Brien, trainer.”
