Left Gowran debut effort behind to win a 7f maiden here last October on very soft ground; won the Madrid handicap at Naas (7f, soft) on seasonal return off 94; preferred by Ryan Moore to his higher-rated stablemate Neolithic in a 1m Listed race here 19 days ago; won comfortably and can continue on the upgrade; pedigree suggests this trip will be within his range.

He got home very well. I'd imagine Causeway will have no trouble stepping up in trip when the time comes. We just didn't want to start him up (in trip) in bad ground. We just wanted to get a run into him for this. He's ready. He's done his prep for it now. He'd be very comfortable coming back here for the Guineas - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.

Causeway was tough and he learned a lot. He took a run last year, he was a little bit lazy. He'll obviously stay a lot further. Ryan was good on him. I think he'll be very comfortable going a mile and could get further. He's brave, he stuck his head out. He can go into a winners' race now and we'll go gentle with him and let him mature away - Aidan O'Brien, trainer.

Causeway is a lovely, big, scopey horse who's laid-back. He had a lovely run at Gowran and was staying on well. Even though he was coming back a furlong, we thought the way the ground was today, up here, you'd have to stay well and he obliged. He went forward down past the two and then he felt like he parked a bit. There was something that came on the stands' side and he actually went forward again so I'd say it was company he was waiting for - Wayne Lordan, jockey.
