Tennessee Stud
Group 1-winning 2yo made the frame last year in Epsom/Curragh Derbies and career-best when winning the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay (1m7f, very soft) at Longchamp in October; disappointing when last seen in Group 2 Riyadh contest in January, fading tamely on quick ground after forcing much of pace; demands plenty of respect on overall form.

From the connections
“Tennessee Stud is just a very good horse. He always has been. The Prix Niel wasn't really his thing last time and we felt he was ready to step up in trip. He's lovely and relaxed, especially for a colt. He always gave the impression that he had the temperament and the pedigree to become a stayer. He could be a Melbourne Cup horse. I was impressed with him today. I know he didn't win by far, but Dylan [Browne McMonagle] felt he was getting quite lonely in the final furlong, which is just the way the race panned out - Kevin Blake, trainer's representative. Tennessee Stud travelled round well and quickened better than I expected to in the conditions and left me clear with a target on my back, but he was tough until the line. He's a top-class horse over that trip. The ground is proper soft and a bit slower in places. It's breezy as well so the conditions are tough - Dylan Browne McMonagle, jockey.”
“Tennessee Stud ran great. He was a little bit slower into his stride than we maybe expected, but it was a really good run. Very proud of the horse, a great ride from Dylan and I'm delighted for all of the owners - Joseph O'Brien, trainer.”
“Dylan [Browne McMonagle, jockey] gave Tennessee Stud a fantastic ride, he said he was really struggling on that ground and he never felt comfortable at any stage. I think it's quite heavy there. It's testament to his attitude he was able to fight and fight and still win at the line. He's very big and I expect him to be better as a three-year-old. He'll have a break and he'll be trained now with the Derby at Epsom being his target. He could run in one or two trial races - Joseph O'Brien, trainer.”
“Tennessee Stud has sharpened up a lot and did well. He's a good staying horse and a Derby Trial horse for next season - Declan McDonogh, jockey.”
