Racing Post Spotlight

Twice-raced filly who is open to any amount of further progress and looks a Listed/Group performer in the making; eye-catching second at Newbury (1m, soft) in the autumn then went one better by stretching nicely clear to score by 5l at Newmarket (1m2f, good) on reappearance; respected.

1 May 2026·Darley EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (GBB/GBBPlus Race) · Newmarket
I was delighted with Earth Shot. I was a bit concerned about the ground but she strode out well. The owners sponsor the mile and a quarter fillies' Listed at Newbury on the 17th of May and I suspect she'll go there. Tom [Marquand] was keen that she has another race relatively soon before we put a big target in front of her so we'll do Newbury if she's OK then decide whether to go to Epsom [Oaks] or Ascot [Ribblesdale] - William Haggas, trainer, speaking to Racing TV.It was an impressive performance. Earth Shot had that really nice introduction at Newbury behind one of our other exciting fillies [My Ophelia] and that performance was everything you'd want it to be. She took a while to work it out with the track being the track. She took a bit of a hop and a jump over some of the ridges early on but she worked it out late and, as ever with ours, William [Haggas] likes to leave a bit to be improved on into the season and I'm looking forward now to seeing what she really can do - Tom Marquand, jockey.
