Intervention
Won last season's Great St Wilfrid at Ripon off a 7lb higher mark; didn't run badly at Nottingham (5f, good) on penultimate start and a wide draw offers an excuse at Chester since.

From the connections
“It's a massive pot for a horse like Intervention. It's a big handicap for whatever horse it is, but at his age, he's just been an absolute star for us. We kind of felt he could run well, looking at the quality of the race this year. Outside the top three, it was a 0-90. With question marks against each of those three classier horses, we did feel that we had a decent chance and that the track would suit him - and it did. He wasn't much higher for Wolverhampton and he'd got good form on the all-weather off slightly higher marks. Martin [Dixon, brother and part-owner] got William [Pyle] booked very early on and his three pounds off was always going to help. We thought we were going to need a lightweight rider, so we thought we may as well take a little bit of weight off on top of that. William does seem one of those riders where some of these sprinters will just run for him - Chris Dixon, part-owner.”
“It was a fantastic win again and Intervention is just an amazing horse. That's eleven wins since we bought him, his last four on the bounce. He's going on seven, in the form of his life and is better than ever. It secures at least sharing the top prize for the all-weather horse of the month at the Arc (Arena Racing Company) tracks in December because that's three wins from his last three runs. We're thrilled with him, he came to us as a longstanding maiden and Mick's just worked wonders with him. He's a bit of a hero of ours, he's won more races for us than any other horse and he's a firm favourite - Chris Dixon, syndicate boss.”
